You Can Make a Difference, Too

Built by the community for the community, Pali Momi is a nonprofit hospital and depends on the generosity of community members for ongoing support. Contributions to Pali Momi through the Kapiʻolani Health Foundation help the hospital provide the highest level of medical care in four key areas:

  • Patient Services and Programs:
Our approach to providing quality health care for every family member is foremost and reflected in the variety of programs and services provided.

  • Capital Improvements:
Equipment and building expansion and renovation support is critical to provide caregivers with efficient facilities to deliver state-of-the-art care to patients.

  • Education and Research:
The Foundation helps fund vital health education and community outreach programs at Pali Momi. It also aides critical research in the diagnosis and treatment of many of todayʼs medical conditions.

  • Uncompensated Care:
No one is ever turned away. Quality care is provided to all who need it, regardless of their ability to pay. With the rate of uninsured and underinsured families increasing now more than ever, community support helps Pali Momi fulfill this important part of our mission.

Your Gift Goes Very Far ?C Yet Stays Close to Home
Having a state-of-the-art medical facility so close to home matters, especially in critical situations since it eliminates the need for Central and West Oahu patients to travel to Honolulu for help. The compassionate and quality care provided by the physicians, nurses, and staff at Pali Momi is supported in numerous ways by the generosity of the local community. Some of the programs and services these donations make possible include:

  • Cancer Fund: support cancer treatment programs and support services for patients

  • Cardiac Fund: support heart health services, including diagnostic and intervention programs

  • Emergency Room Fund: support the expansion of the emergency room to provide care to the growing Leeward population

  • Ohana (Family) Fund: support uninsured and underinsured patients with short-term prescription medication, transportation and lodging costs

  • Retina Research Fund: support the prevention and treatment of retinal diseases

  • Womenʼs Center Fund: support womenʼs comprehensive services, including bone and breast health

Why I Give

Mrs. Takako Kokame knows the work being done at The Pali Momi Retina Center helps people in Hawaiʻi who are losing their valuable eyesight. Thatʼs why she supports the Retina Research Fund through Kapiʻolani Health Foundation. The Fund helps fund the most active retina research program in the state, and with 11 studies currently ongoing, is as diverse and extensive as many of the top eye institutes and research centers in the nation.

“I know so many people develop diabetes here in Hawaiʻi and with diabetes, vision problems, including blindness, can follow.  I just want to support the work The Retina Center is doing for the people of Hawaiʻi,” said Takako.
